Rubrics! These rubrics correlate with our weekly Reading Tests.
1. Reading Test Short-Answer Questions:
- Subject-who the sentence is about
- Predicate-what the subject is doing
- Makes sense
- Capital letters-beginning of sentence, proper nouns

2. Reading Test Linking to the Concepts Question:
4 Points=Student’s answer is correct, meaningful, and focuses on the topic. The answer is also written neatly and legibly. No grammar or spelling errors.
3 Points=Student’s answer is mostly complete and focused on the topic and/or few errors in grammar and spelling
2 Points=Response is incomplete and disorganized and/or requires effort to read and has errors in spelling and grammar
1 Point=Incorrect answer, poor organization, reader has to struggle to read the answer, and/or lots of spelling and grammar errors
0 Points=no response
3. Reading Test Personal Response:
3 Points=Student responds with a personal experience directly related to the question. Answer is complete and meaningful, with correct grammar and spelling. It is also written neatly and legibly.
2 Points=Response is mostly complete and/or not focused. It has a few spelling and grammar errors.
1 Point=Response does not reflect the question, poorly focused, and/or has many spelling and grammar errors.
0 Points=no response
4. Reading Test Analyzing the Selection Response:
Score: 8 or 7
Student understands the question and responds completely, includes all four parts of a GOOD paragraph, has correct grammar and punctuation. Easy to read and correct spelling of common words.
Score: 6 or 5
Student understands the question and responds. All four parts of a GOOD paragraph are included. Student has mostly correct grammar and punctuation. Paragraph is somewhat easy to read with mostly correct spelling of common words.
Score: 4 or 3
Student understands part of the question. Not all four parts of a GOOD paragraph are included. Student has mostly correct grammar and punctuation. Paragraph is somewhat easy to read with some correct spelling of common words.
Score: 2 or 1
Student does not understand question and does not use all four parts of a GOOD paragraph. Grammar and punctuation contain errors, the paragraph is hard to read and contains misspellings of many common words.
Student does not respond or is completely off the topic.
